About Us

The Friends of the St. Croix East End Marine Park exist

  • To promote responsible recreation and enjoyment of the East End Marine Park;
  • To raise funds to help meet the Park’s management and research objectives;
  • To support the mission of the St. Croix East End Marine Park, which is .... to protect territorially significant marine resources, promote sustainability of marine ecosystems, including coral reefs, seagrass beds, wildlife habitats and other resources; and to conserve and preserve significant natural areas for the use and benefit of future generations
    • Text of Act 6572 which established the Park

The Friends is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization which was incorporated in the USVI in 2016. The Friends’ IRS identifier is 66-0861162.

What have the Friends been up to since incorporation?

Bayside Signs

Starting in 2017, the Friends designed and installed a series of signs at popular beaches bordering the Park in order to help beachgoers make the right decisions at the beach.

Visitor Center Saturdays

On weekends, the Visitor Center is currently open only the first Saturday of every month (9:30 am-4 pm), but usually there is also an art or other special event during the open hours on that Saturday.  Make a fish print (no real fish will be harmed!), listen to a story or color in some drawings of marine animals!  The Friends support Visitor Center Saturdays; contributions from you and other generous attendees make it easy for the Park to purchase supplies for these events… and be creative about adding new ones!

Youth Dive Gear

The East End Marine Park works with a number of young aspiring marine scientists and conservationists, through summer camps and internships, who are keen to spend more time in the water and improve their diving skills. As many of these students don’t yet have their own dive gear (a significant financial investment), the Friends supports gear rental for these students when they are participating in marine conservation work.

Clean Ups

The Park and Friends support a number of island clean-up initiatives and also host some of their own events. In the past, the Friends have worked with 4Ocean, VIMAS, St. Croix Environmental Association, BirdsCaribbean, and the National Park Service to address both intentional dumping and tidal trash.
